About Barrett Rankin
Raised on a farm in central Saskatchewan, Barrett Rankin embodied a deep commitment to agriculture, education, and people. After completing degrees in Agriculture and Agribusiness at the University of Saskatchewan, Barrett contributed to the success of leading ag companies, including Bayer, Syngenta, BASF, and FMC.
He also brought a global perspective to the field, studying and working across continents from Sweden to Ethiopia. The scholarship celebrates his legacy by opening doors for others to follow a similar path.
Purpose
The goal of the scholarship is to provide financial support to Canadian students pursuing agricultural studies and to encourage leadership, innovation, and long-term success within the industry.
Eligibility
Applicants must:
- Be Canadian residents aged 16 or older by January 1, 2025
- Be in their final year of high school, enrolled in CEGEP, or a current post-secondary student
- Be planning to attend the University of Saskatchewan – College of Agriculture and Bioresources in Fall 2025
Application Requirements
Applicants must submit:
- A summary of community involvement and post-secondary plans
- A 500-word essay or 3–4 minute video on the future of Canadian agriculture and innovation
Applications Open: June 2, 2025
Application Deadline: July 18, 2025
Recipient Notified: Early August 2025
Public Announcement: Late August / Early September
Award
One student will receive a $5,000 scholarship to support their studies at the University of Saskatchewan.
