Nutrien Ag Solutions Launches TERRAMAR® Across Western Canada
SASKATOON, Saskatchewan (July 17, 2026) – Nutrien Ag Solutions has begun its first season of commercial TERRAMAR®, a highly-anticipated plant nutrition bio-solution, across Western Canada, with foliar applications now underway to evaluate product performance under Prairie growing conditions. Following strong grower interest, including approximately across 250,000 acres already booked for field application, the launch will generate local agronomic data across a broad range of Prairie environments.
TERRAMAR is a bio-solution designed to deliver increased nutrient uptake and enhanced stress mitigation, helping optimize plant health and contribute to improved yield potential. A breakthrough plant nutrition technology from Loveland Products, Inc, it combines a biologically extracted kelp source with biologically extracted leonardite, a naturally occurring carbon source, to supplement a balanced crop nutrition program and help maximize plant performance throughout the growing season.
Field applications are taking place from late June through July across Western Canadian locations, with timing adjusted in some regions to accommodate crop staging and weather conditions. The program aims to evaluate TERRAMAR's performance while generating local agronomic data throughout the growing season.
“When Nutrien approached us about conducting a Terramar trial, we were eager to see how it would perform in our canola crop. The results were apparent within days of application. Throughout the season, our canola looked healthier, held its flowers longer, and produced significantly more pods than the check strip. By harvest, the results spoke for themselves,” says Lawrence Vogel, Leslie Wolowidnyk-Vogel, and Elisabeth Vogel of Turin, Alberta. “After seeing the results firsthand, our only wish was that we had applied it across the entire field. It's rare to find a product that delivers both visible in-field performance and measurable returns, and Terramar did exactly that for us.”
The strong early response reflects growing demand for practical technologies that help crops perform more consistently in challenging conditions.
"Growers continue to look for practical inputs and technology that help their crops perform more consistently under increasingly variable growing conditions," said Twyla Jones, Senior Manager of Agronomic Innovations in Canada for Nutrien. "For growers, TERRAMAR is about supporting stronger crop performance through improved nutrient uptake and stress mitigation, helping protect yield potential when conditions become challenging."
Registered for use across a broad range of Prairie crops, including canola, cereals, corn, pulse crops and soybeans, TERRAMAR is compatible with a broad range of liquid fertilizers, herbicides, fungicides and insecticides. First-year foliar applications are being positioned around late herbicide and early fungicide passes, allowing growers to incorporate the product into existing crop protection programs without requiring an additional application.
Building on previous research and commercial testing in the United States, Nutrien Ag Solutions conducted Research Authorization trials across Western Canada during the 2025 growing season to validate TERRAMAR's performance under Prairie conditions. Following positive results from more than 30 trials across the region, the company entered the 2026 season with confidence in the product's commercial launch and expects this year's field applications to further demonstrate TERRAMAR's ability to improve nutrient use efficiency while helping crops better tolerate environmental stress.
"TERRAMAR reflects Loveland Products' and Nutrien Ag Solutions' ongoing commitment to bringing innovative, science-backed technologies to Canadian growers," Jones said. "By supporting nutrient use efficiency and helping protect yield potential, TERRAMAR is designed to help growers maximize the return on their crop investment while maintaining strong productivity across the acre.”
TERRAMAR, along with other advancements in the Nutrien Ag Solutions portfolio, will be showcased at the 2026 Ag in Motion expo, Western Canada's premier outdoor farm show, July 21–23, 2026, in Langham, Saskatchewan.
