Reference: Press Release

Aug. 18, 2025 – Lethbridge Polytechnic is ready to celebrate a multi-million-dollar gift from the estate of Joe and Laverna Hranac.

This transformative legacy gift – the second largest in the institution’s history – will support operations at the Lethbridge Polytechnic Research Farm, enabling the continuation and expansion of applied agriculture research and innovation.

An official gift announcement and brief program will take place Thursday at the Research Farm.

Media are invited to attend for photo/video opportunities. Interviews with Lethbridge Polytechnic representatives and members of the Hranacs’ extended family will be available following the program.

Thursday’s event coincides with the polytechnic’s annual Farm Field Day when members of the agricultural community tour the farm, meet with researchers and learn more about how the polytechnic’s Centre for Applied Research, Innovation and Entrepreneurship is meeting industry needs.

Dr. Kenny Corscadden, vice-president – academic and research, and Dr. Andrew Dunlop, associate vice-president – research, will be available to speak about current agriculture-related projects after the Hranac gift announcement.
