Helping Canola Growers Stay Ahead of Disease: New Proven® Seed Canola Hybrids Debut at Ag in Motion

SASKATOON, SASKATCHEWAN (July 10, 2026) – As Western Canadian growers face increasing disease pressure and variable growing conditions, Proven® Seed, the proprietary seed brand of Nutrien Ag Solutions, is bringing new, field-tested solutions directly to the plots at Ag in Motion - focused on what matters most: helping growers protect yield, manage risk and maximize return per acre.

At Ag in Motion, Western Canada’s leading outdoor farm show (July 21–23, 2026, in Langham, Saskatchewan), visitors to the Proven Seed plots will see canola genetics developed for Western Canadian soil types and farming operations, supported by one of the industry’s most extensive local trialing programs.

Built where it matters: on Western Canadian farms
Behind every product on display is a deep commitment to local field trial validation. Proven Seed hybrids are backed by more than 110 field-scale trials across Western Canada, complemented by research conducted at 17 dedicated canola R&D sites. Backed by Nutrien Ag Solutions' local retail network and agronomic expertise, growers can access regional performance insights and recommendations tailored to their operations.

"Our goal is to bring growers hybrids that deliver confidence in the field—from emergence through harvest. Through extensive testing across Western Canada, we identify products that help growers manage disease pressure, protect yield potential and perform consistently across a range of growing conditions,” says Jennifer Dale, Canola Product Line Manager at Nutrien Ag Solutions. “When those genetics are paired with local agronomic support, growers can make more informed seed decisions tailored to their specific region and operation.”

All trial results are accessible through Nutrien Ag Solutions retail locations and online at provenseed.ca.

New Clearfield canola varieties designed for today’s challenges

Two new canola hybrids launching this fall headline the plot - purpose-built to help growers stay ahead of rising disease pressure, maintain yield potential, and improve harvest confidence, with strong protection against clubroot and blackleg as growing conditions and weather patterns continue to swing from drought to excess moisture.

PV 281 CLCM – A next-generation Clearfield® canola hybrid offering multi-genic clubroot resistance. It also provides improved Harvest Management flexibility as an added value benefit, helping growers better manage harvest timing and protect crop quality.

PV 785 TCN – Developed for regions with challenging disease pressure, like central and northern Alberta, this hybrid combines multi-genic clubroot resistance with the NTACT® Technology trait package. NTACT gives this hybrid increased pod integrity and multi-genic clubroot resistance, designed to help growers maximize harvest performance while managing clubroot risk in high-pressure geographies.

Clearfield canola - Non-GMO and providing access to specialty food and export markets - continues to play an important role in crop rotation and market access strategies for many growers.

Both varieties will be showcased live in the field at the Proven Seed plots, giving growers and media the opportunity to evaluate performance firsthand and connect directly with local agronomists who are involved in the trials. Attendees can also learn how Proven Seed genetics are supported through Nutrien Ag Solutions' retail network, helping translate local trial data into practical recommendations for on-farm success.

In addition to plot tours, attendees can experience the “Picnic in the Plots,” featuring food sourced from Western Canadian crops grown by local producers.
