Episode 224: “Innovating Women’s Farm & Ranch Wear” with Michelle Durnin

In this week’s episode Tracy speaks to Michelle Durnin in this episode titled “Innovating Women’s Farm & Ranch Wear.”

This one is for the ladies.

Are you tired of the awkward fitting work wear? Wish you had farm gear designed specifically for the shapes and curves gifted to us ladies?

If so, you will not want to miss Michelle's incredible entrepreneurial story of dreaming up and launching Durnin Farm & Ranch Wear.

In this episode, Tracy and Michelle speak about:

  • Michelle's background, story, and how the idea for farm and ranch wear designed specifically for women came to her.
  • She shares more about her overalls and coveralls and what women can expect when they purchase products from her rather than the brand names readily available to farmers.
  • Everyone loves a good entrepreneurial story, so Tracy tells the who, what, when, and how of her journey from idea to finally deciding to launch Durnin Farm & Ranch Wear.
  • Tracy asks Michelle what has been the most challenging, surprising, and best thing on her entrepreneurial journey.
  • Limiting beliefs: we all deal with them, and if we don’t know better, we let them stop us. Tracy asked Michelle what advice she would give herself as she contemplated this business idea. Michelle shares some great advice here for aspiring entrepreneurs.
  • To wrap up the episode, Tracy asks some extra personal questions to help the audience get to know her better. These include something that she is really fired up about, a book that changed her life, and the best advice she has ever received.

Whether you are a female farmer looking for better-fitting farm and ranch gear or an aspiring entrepreneur… you will love this episode.

Michelle Durnin
Owner | Durning Farm & Ranch Wear

Michelle Durnin was born and raised on a cash crop farm in Southwestern Ontario. After graduating with a Bachelor of Science in Agriculture from the University of Guelph, she spent several years working in agronomy and precision agriculture roles. During her time spent as an ag professional, helping with planting and harvest on her family's farm, and bundling up to ride her horse in the winter months, she decided that her wardrobe was lacking. After many years of searching to find proper-fitting work clothes that catered to ag professionals and those in the western industry, DFR was born. Michelle now splits her time between DFR and her independent agronomy business, supports her husband's farming endeavours, and tries to fit in some time to ride her horse. She is passionate about bringing confidence and community to other women in the agriculture and western industries.
