Dairy Farmers of Canada Welcomes the National Food Security Strategy

OTTAWA, June 12, 2026 - Dairy Farmers of Canada (DFC) is encouraged by the Government of Canada’s National Food Security Strategy, which reflects a tangible commitment to strengthening our domestic food security and ensuring Canadians have stable access to homegrown food. As stated by Prime Minister Carney, “"A country that can’t feed itself, fuel itself, or defend itself isn’t truly sovereign."

DFC welcomes the government’s recognition of supply management within the strategy as “fundamental to Canadian self-sufficiency for dairy, egg, and poultry products at stable prices.”
