“The Indo-Pacific region presents exciting market diversification opportunities for canola farmers,” says Dave Carey, CCGA’s Vice-President of Government & Industry Relations. “The establishment of an Indo-Pacific agriculture and agri-food office recognizes the importance of this fast-growing, dynamic region to Canadian agriculture and of strengthening our trade and economic relationship.”
Increasing incomes and education levels and changing food patterns across the Indo-Pacific region make canola an attractive option with opportunities for seed, oil, and meal.
“Added resources to support trade and a new agriculture office will help canola farmers capitalize on new opportunities in the Indo-Pacific,” says Janelle Whitley, CCGA’s Senior Manager, Trade and Marketing. “A multi-disciplinary office will assist our exporters proactively overcome market access barriers, strengthen communication between government and industry and problem solve in the region.”
CCGA applauds the Government of Canada for recognizing the importance of added capacity to growing Canadian agriculture exports. An agriculture-focused office is a key trade priority for CCGA, and we would like to thank Minister of Small Business, Export Promotion and International Trade, Mary Ng, Minister of Agriculture and Agri-Food, Marie-Claude Bibeau, and Minister of Foreign Affairs of Canada, Mélanie Joly, for moving it forward.
