Ready? Steady. Go! Unleash your potential.

Farmers, make lifelong learning part of your business strategy.

Now more than ever, Canada’s farmers need to be prepared to face uncertainty and to recognize and embrace opportunities when they are presented. Research shows that a farmer’s willingness and ability to make learning part of the business strategy builds resilience and their capacity to succeed. This resilience is key for maintaining the strength of Canada’s agricultural sector for generations to come.

As we move into autumn, we are surrounded by learning opportunities through conferences, workshops and all sorts of industry meetings. How can you invest in building the strength of your team? Have you considered creating a skills development plan for your farm? What events will you attend to hone your management skills?

Farm Management Canada’s Agricultural Excellence Conference is the only event that welcomes farm management enthusiasts from across Canada and production sectors to focus exclusively on cultivating farm business excellence. The 2018 Conference is taking place November 26-28 at the Fort Garry Hotel in Winnipeg, Manitoba. This event brings together leading agricultural producers, industry insiders, government officials, educators and students to learn from leading experts, share insights, and build business networks.

The theme for AgEx 2018 is Ready? Steady. Go!

Ready? Take stock of what you need to manage for success.

Steady. Build a strategy for sustainable growth taking care of yourself, your team, and your resources

Go! Use your strategy to confront change with confidence and seize opportunity – unleash your potential!

The Conference starts with a macro look at the agricultural industry. Futurist Nikolas Badminton will be speaking about Agriculture 3.0, followed by a panel and roundtable discussion led by Canadian Agri-Food Policy Institute CEO Don Buckingham on Canada’s capacity for sustainable growth, balancing economic, environmental and social pressures. We’ll then take a closer look at challenges and opportunities facing farmers and how we can continue to position for prosperity. The Bridging the Gap forum explores how we can work towards improving farm transition and preserve farm legacies while empowering our future farmers. The Healthy Farmer: Healthy Farm panel takes a look at steps we can take to support positive mental health on farms. Concurrent workshops deep dive into key management topics including finance, human resource management, self-improvement and peer advisory groups. And finally, we’ll end by looking upwards and outwards with international insights and what it takes to be an award-winning young farmer.

Participants have access to farm, family, and personal coaches throughout the Conference as part of our Coach on Call feature, and will learn the resources and tools available to maintain competitive advantage through the Farm Business Management Resource Showcase.
